Description
Now of course, this EP is a re-issue (of sorts). So if you missed out on Latin Fever vol.1 back in April 2020, here's your chance to play catch up, but with a twist! On Latin Fever vol.1.5 we have a re-arrangement of the original track listing with two tunes penned by Neil Anderson on side A....
First up, we have the essential instrumental, Broasted or Toasted? Previously only available on very limited wax (only 50 copies were pressed), this track proved so sought after that it has replaced Luchito's Vacilón from the first issue. Next we have Hey! Guajira Baby - Luchito's ode to a country girl that just drives him crazy - a track that owes as much of a nod to Bruce Channel's early '60s hit "Hey Baby!" as it does to Peruvian, Coco Lagos' much under-rated "Guajira Boogaloo".
Side B is all about Néstor Álvarez (Neil's latino alter-ego). It kicks off with Bang The Bongo, a revamp of Tito Puente's classic "Hit The Bongo". Néstor's version prompted BBC's Craig Charles to comment "He has managed the impossible and has outdone El Rey!" Finally, we have a funky cover of Lupita - a raucous take, more closely akin to Nico Gomez' 1971 version than that of Pérez Prado's original Mambo from 1954.
Limited to 250 copies - translucent RED vinyl in picture sleeve.
With sleeve notes by Chills & Fever's very own Andy Hill.
