And now for something completely different… The Shakers Maximum Merseybeat… just like it used to be! Formed in 2005 by drummer Tony O’Keeffe, The Shakers authentically recreate the look and the sound of those Liverpool days and Hamburg nights, when the original Mersey beat sound was born. The group’s ethos is based around the early 60s when beat music was at its most exciting. The lads debut single on Vee-Tone Records perfectly captures the earthy, raw sound of the early 60s beat boom. This killer twin spin features on the A side the driving rocker ‘Hi-Fi Baby’ featuring great vocal harmonies and top-notch guitar licks, on its flip side is their thrashing, atmospheric guitar led version of the Little Willie John classic, ‘Fever’. Both tracks are destined to be club floor fillers. Very few groups have successfully recreated the sound, feel and look of that wonderful early 60s rock n roll sound and these guys are as good as it gets. It’s little wonder that Shakin’ Sunday, their weekly residency at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool is packed every week!
