Description
Founded in Kingston, Jamaica in 1959 by Chris Blackwell and Graeme Goodall, Island Records was set up to record Jamaican ska and rocksteady music. Chris Blackwell had a lasting influence on modern popular music helping West Indian music add a multicultural componen to pop that continues until today.
