Description
Available again on vinyl LP for the first time in over 30 years – the groundbreaking debut album by Münster ska legends (1990, Pork Pie / Vielklang) on random colored vinyl with a printed inlay and sticker!
Founded in Münster (germany) back in 1985, El Bosso & Die Ping Pongs, along with a few contemporaries like Skaos, No Sports, The Braces, The Busters, and Blechreiz, were at the forefront of the young German ska scene and, not least because of their German lyrics, absolute pioneers and outsiders.
The band, which has continued on and off to this day, led by Markus "El Bosso" Seidensticker, brought the spirit of the British 2-Tone movement with The Specials, Madness, and The Selecter to the German ska scene, which had been churned up by punk rock and Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW).
The album opener and relentlessly catchy tune "Immer Nur Ska" (Always Just Ska) also marked the launch of the newly founded German ska label Pork Pie, on whose first compilation album, "Ska Ska Skandal No. 1" (Ska Ska Scandal No. 1), it had first appeared a year earlier. The self-titled debut album contains twelve hits such as "Komm Schon" (Come On), "Katharin," "Mafia-Tanz" (Mafia Dance), and "Egoist," recorded by the octet lineup featuring singer El Bosso and trombonist "Professor Ritchie" (aka Dr. Ring Ding) at Berlin's Vielklang Studio.
Thirty-four years later, this milestone of German independent music culture is finally available again on vinyl with restored original artwork.
