Description
Coxsone Dodd/Studio One's first album (released in 1961) was unknown to the world until 2009. There were few copies pressed at the time, and almost no discs remain. This album is extremely rare in the history of Jamaican music, and has great historical value as the first work by the prestigious Studio One. This album allows you to enjoy the earliest shuffle ska, including Clancy Eccles' signature song "Freedom." This is an important work that can be said to be the origin of not only Studio One, but also Jamaican music that led to reggae dancehall. The liner notes by Brian Keyo contain much of the first-time information obtained from the artists, and are an excellent article that gives a glimpse into the background of the music scene at the time.
