Der Münchner Autor und Szene-Aktivist Klaus Kettner veröffentlicht die ultimative Chronik der Rock’n’Roll-Revolution in Europa, anlässlich der ersten Tournee der US-Pioniere Bill Haley And His Comets, mit hunderten, größtenteils unveröffentlichten Fotos und Dokumenten auf Hydra Records. Noch bevor der Begriff „Rock’n’Roll“ gebräuchlich wurde, sang Bill Haley 1954 bereits dessen ultimative Hymne „Rock Around The Clock“, er war der erste, der mit seinen Comets 1958 den brandneuen Skandalsound auf Livetournee in Europa vorstellte, gefolgt von internationalen Schlagzeigen voller Entrüstung über die Krawalle und Ausschreitungen, die der wilde Musikstil provozierte. Heute vollkommen unvorstellbar, war der Rock’n’Roll für das gesamte gesellschaftliche Establishment der Nachkriegszeit eine riesige Provokation. Der 1965 geborene Münchener Klaus Kettner sah schon als 11-jähriger den Haley-Film „Außer Rand & Band“, ist seitdem als Fan, Plattensammler, Labelbetreiber, Szeneaktivist und nicht zuletzt 27 Jahre lang Manager der wiedervereinigten Comets ein international respektierter Haley-Experte, der in seinem Buch anhand der 1958er Europatour die Geburtsjahre der neuen Populärmusik und die damit verbundenen gesellschaftlichen und sozialen Erdbeben detailliert nachzeichnet. Natürlich sind zahlreiche exklusive Fotos aus Kettners musealer Sammlung zentraler Teil dieses Manifests.

The book traces in detail, on the basis of the Bill Haley European tour in 1958, what life was like "on the road" in the early years of rock music and how the post-war youth, often considered hoodlums, tried to break free from the constraints of society and parents and how their awkward reactions fueled the whole thing.

In addition to hundreds of mostly unpublished photos and documents, contemporary witnesses and musicians also have their say. One chapter is devoted extensively to the ambivalent relationship between Bill Haley and Elvis, who began as an unnamed musician in Haley's support act, only to eventually knock him off his throne.
