The Meteors are widely regarded as the founding force of Psychobilly. Emerging in the early 1980s UK underground, they defined the genre’s core sound: fast Rockabilly rhythms, horror themes, and aggressive punk energy.
Their stripped-down approach removed anything unnecessary and focused on pure intensity—driven by slap bass, reverb-heavy guitar, and raw vocals. This formula became the blueprint for an entire global scene.
The Meteors influenced countless bands including The Tall Boys and many Fresh From The Fridge featured artists.
