Record Store Day has become one of the most visible events in modern vinyl culture. It brings attention to independent record shops, limited releases, and the physical experience of digging for music. For many stores and labels, it is an important moment in the yearly calendar.

At Copasetic Mailorder, we have made a conscious decision not to participate in Record Store Day.

That does not mean we do not support the idea behind it. On the contrary—we fully respect any initiative that keeps vinyl culture alive and brings people into record shops. But our approach to music, distribution, and curation simply works differently.

We believe that great records should not be limited to one day of hype, queues, or artificial scarcity. Music should be available because it matters—not because it is tied to a calendar event.

A Different Philosophy: Everyday Vinyl Culture

Copasetic Mailorder is built around a simple idea: carefully curated music, available all year round.

We focus on reggae, ska, rocksteady, soul, funk, dub, rockabilly, psychobilly, punk oi! and related styles—records chosen for DJs, selectors, and dedicated listeners who value quality over hype. Our catalogue is constantly updated with new releases, reissues, and hidden gems.

Instead of concentrating energy into a single day, we believe in:

  • continuous releases throughout the year
  • fair and consistent availability
  • long-term value over short-term hype
  • DJ-focused, playable music
  • real connection to sound system culture

No Hype, No Rush, No Artificial Scarcity

Record Store Day often creates pressure: limited drops, queues, and fast sell-outs. While this can be exciting, it does not reflect how we want people to experience music.

We prefer a slower, more sustainable approach where records are accessible beyond a single morning rush. Good music deserves time—not just a moment.

Every Day Is Record Store Day Here

For us, the spirit of Record Store Day is not limited to a date. It exists every day a customer discovers a new record, a DJ finds a perfect cut, or someone falls in love with a sound they have never heard before.

That is why, at Copasetic Mailorder, every day is Record Store Day.

We are here to keep vinyl culture alive—not as an event, but as a daily practice.
