With the formation of The Chains, Denmark has gained a new supergroup. The band members span three generations of Copenhagen Ska and Early Reggae connoisseurs — some have been active since the early '80s, while others joined in the '90s and '00s.
When The Chains came together as a group, their mission was to create something that was missing in their local Copenhagen Ska and Reggae scene; an exciting live band with international aspirations, with original material that could be put up against anything out there.
With their debut album "Crying On The Dancefloor", that mission has been accomplished.
Twelve tracks, representing the many facets of the band's combined talents and backgrounds, done with exquisite attention to detail and deep love for the many traditions of early Jamaican Reggae and late 70's British Two Tone music - with an all killer, no filler approach that is present in every track.
The Chains builds on a central sound, with Jakob Palitzsch creating melodic lines on his magnificent organ, Kevin Leo providing fuzzy and warm lead guitar, and David Peter's thick, melodic bass lines, underscoring the Reggae roots of the band. With Bjørn Hardenberg hammering out groovy drum parts, and Lasse Elmer's steady hand holding down the rhythm guitar, the band comes together to create music that is authentic and pure.
Adding to the sound is a love for vocal harmonies, with lead singer Pato Siebenhaar's raspy vocals supported by Kevin Leo and David Peter's smooth backing vocals, drawing on the classic sound of 60's Jamaican vocal groups.
It's classic Boss Reggae and Ska music with a hint of Garage Rock and Soul Music, drawing on sounds you know and love, while still allowing the individual musicians to add their own flavor and soul to the tracks.
LIMITED to 500 copies.
