Duke Reid's Treasure Isle was the rival to Studio One and in 1968, at the peak of Rock Steady, it was producing some of the most sophisticated and soulful Jamaican music ever recorded. The Sensations' "I'll Never Fall In Love" is a prime example: lush, yearning vocal harmony Rock Steady at its most elegant. Flip it for Errol Brown's "Chucky Love" a cool, confident cut from one of Treasure Isle's most reliable vocalists.
Two sides of pure 1968 Jamaican gold, now reissued as part of the prestigious Treasure Isle Reissue Series (TIEU037) — faithful, high-quality pressings that bring these essential tracks back to the dancefloor and the record shelf where they belong.
