A deep roots rarity, “African Train” by Errol Holt (aka Flabba Holt) emerges from the legendary archives of Niney the Observer. Recorded in 1975 and reissued by Deeper Roots, this powerful 7" captures the essence of mid-70s roots reggae with its stripped-down, heavyweight production and conscious African themes.
Best known as the bassist for the Roots Radics, Holt steps forward here with a commanding vocal performance over a sparse, driving riddim—reportedly cut at the iconic Studio 17.
The B-side, “African Roots” by Holt & Bolts, delivers a raw version cut, possibly backed by the Soul Syndicate, letting the rhythm run free with minimal effects. A must for roots collectors and Niney enthusiasts—secure this rare reissue today.
