Alton Ellis takes on Al Green's soul classic "Let's Stay Together" and makes it entirely his own. Recorded for Coxsone Records in Jamaica in 1972, this is Ellis in his early Reggae phase: the silky vocal control that made him a Studio One legend now applied to one of American soul's most beloved songs, transformed into a deep, unhurried Jamaican groove. The result is one of those rare covers that stands completely alongside the original.
Flip it for Sound Dimension's "Let's Stay Version" the riddim stripped bare and left to breathe. Originally released in Jamaica in 1972, now reissued by Coxsone Records (CLD-SO45-25009) in 2026.
New vinyl. Available now at Copasetic Mailorder.
