Descripción
Ten 7" singles, 20 tracks, recorded between 1963 and 1971: this Record Store Day 2018 box from Vampi Soul gathers soul, R&B and garage from the Rampart, Faro, Gordo and Linda labels. Eddie Davis founded them in East Los Angeles, at the heart of the Chicano music scene of the 1960s.
The box features Little Ray, The Majestics, Barry White & The Atlantics, Sarah James, The Romancers, The Four Tempos and Thee Royal Checkmates. The recordings capture the local scene, where ballads, Rolling Stones-influenced rock ’n’ roll and raw soul came out of garage rehearsals and were played at dances and parties.
Includes a 16-page illustrated booklet. A collector’s piece for fans of East LA sounds and early Northern-soul-era garage, and a worthy addition to any soul collection.
