Issued by Penniman Records (PENNLP011), this vinyl-only LP is limited to 500 copies.

Side A documents the original lineup rehearsing at home before their first gig or studio session. Side B gathers live and studio recordings from the same formative period. Whitfield’s explosive vocals meet Peter Greenberg’s ripping guitar, Steve LaGrega’s roaring sax and the driving rhythm section of bassist Phil Lenker and drummer Howie Ferguson.

Carefully mastered from the original tapes, these recordings preserve the raw attack without reducing it to lo-fi murk. For longtime followers, garage R&B collectors and anyone craving rock ’n’ roll with real bite, this is a compelling glimpse of the Savages before their reputation caught fire.

TRACKS:

SIDE A
Doin’ All Right
Rockin’ at The Coconut Top
Bip Bop Bip
Walking With Barrence
Miss Shake It
Saphire
Ship Sailed at Six

SIDE B
Savage Express
Good Rockin’ Tonight
Playgirl
Big Mamou
Chicken Walk
No Kissin At The Hop
Whistle Bait
Mop Mop
