Description
The Masonics’ Masonry: 1994–1997 brings their scarce early EPs back into circulation on Wonderlamp Records, capturing the rough, tough garage rhythm & blues of the original Toe Rag Studio.
This collection documents the trio of Mick Hampshire, Bruce Brand and Liam “Toe Rag” Watson, connecting The Milkshakes, Thee Headcoats and the wider British garage underground. Hampshire wrote 14 of the 15 tracks, making this an essential introduction to his songwriting as well as the band’s formative sound.
The LP also features Miss Ludella Black’s first solo recording, adding another link to Thee Headcoatees’ legacy. Beyond the title’s timeframe, “Ooh-Poo-Pa-Doo” joins the selection from a scarce 2003 Sympathy for the Record Industry compilation.
For collectors chasing elusive EPs and DJs drawn to raw British R&B, Masonry gathers key early material into one LP. Primitive drive, strong songs and serious scene pedigree.
Also included is a twelve-page booklet with many rare and unpublished pictures, liner notes, and the long-awaited introduction to the secret rites of The Masonics.
