Description
Mikabomb was formed in 1997 after frontwoman Mika quit her boring office job in Japan and ran off to London to start a band and dedicate herself to rock 'n' roll. Just a few weeks after arriving in England, Mika met a 16-year-old punk girl named Agi, who had left her hometown of Beijing for similar reasons. Naturally, it wasn't long before Mika and Agi started writing their own trashy pop-punk songs. With Ergi, Mika Bass, and Tomoko completing the band, they began performing regularly and building a fearsome reputation through their consistently exuberant live shows. They not only thrilled concertgoers across the country, but were also hailed by NME as "the new Ramones," described as "fantastic" by Melody Maker, and called "the best band Japan has ever produced" by Steve Lamacq of Radio One. This success attracted the attention of numerous record labels, including Grand Royal, the Beastie Boys' label, which released two limited-edition singles in 2000: "Super Sexy Razor Happy Girls" and "Heart Attack." Their fantastic 15-track debut album, "The Fake Fake Sound of Mikabomb," was originally released on July 2, 2001. Long out of print on vinyl, we are re-releasing it now because Mikabomb are active again and playing in the UK.
