Description
Influenced by the Calypso craze that was started by Harry Belafonte, the debut-LP as a singer by actor Robert Mitchum tackles Mighty Sparrow's 'Jean And Dinah', King Radio's 'Not Me', Wilmouth Houdini's 'Coconut Water' and other Trinidadian anthems with considerable aplomb, infusing his delivery with a faux Caribbean lilt that flatters rather than mocks. A few Don Rae adaptations broaden the palette of the peculiarly appealing record.
The LP was originally released in 1957, now it's available as a fine reissue on CLEAR VINYL. LIMITED to 500 copies - numbered!
