Description
The complete Commodore label masters of Billie Holiday , arguably the most lyrical and expressive vocalist in jazz history , collected on one essential 180g red vinyl LP.
Recorded between her Columbia and Decca contracts, these sessions capture Billie at her absolute peak, backed by an extraordinary small group featuring Frankie Newton, Freddie Webster, Tab Smith, Vic Dickenson, Eddie Heywood and Sidney Catlett.
Highlights include her first and most devastating recording of "Strange Fruit" the song she used to close every live performance plus "As Time Goes By" and "I'll Be Seeing You", versions she would never record again.
